Proposal in… an aquarium

The way her partner proposed to her will remain unforgettable for the girl in Crete. Young Sotiris went with his beloved Emmanuella to the Cretaquarium in Heraklion.

At some point, a diver appeared behind the glass with a message. “On the most beautiful paths of my life, I want you to be the princess who will accompany me. My beauty, please me and say “yes”! My Emmanuela, I love you, marry me,” was written on the card that the diver put to the glass.

The surprised and touched girl saw her beloved kneel down and offer her a ring. And she didn’t keep him waiting and said the desired “yes”, after which the aquarium burst into applause.

To the east of the city of Heraklion, between the resorts of Kokkini Hani and Kato Gouves, is the Cretaquarium (CRETAquarium), which introduces visitors to the unique inhabitants of the Mediterranean Sea, from tiny fish, seahorses and jellyfish to huge sharks that gracefully swim just a few meters from visitors. The Cretaquarium is part of the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR) and is one of the largest aquariums not only in Greece but also in the entire Mediterranean.
Currently, CRETAquarium has about 2,500 marine organisms, representing more than 250 species living in the Mediterranean Sea. It is noteworthy that the design of the tanks with inhabitants reproduces the natural relief of the seabed with its crevices and grottoes as accurately as possible. Due to this, it seems that the Cretan aquarium is deep under water, and we have a unique opportunity to observe what is happening in the hard-to-reach corners of the Mediterranean Sea.
