Gender scandal in women's boxing – Italian athlete has a broken nose (video)

A scandal erupted at the Paris Olympics: a female boxer from Italy stopped the fight, not wanting to continue the fight with a “biological man”.

It was a 1/8 final match between Algeria's Imane Khelif and Italy's Angela Carini. In 2023, Imane failed a hormone test and was disqualified from the World Championships due to too high a testosterone level, tells edition “Champion”. Despite this, she received permission from the IOC to participate in the competition.

The 25-year-old Italian stopped the fight herself, not wanting to continue the action. She threw her helmet to the floor and exclaimed: “This is not fair.” The referee raised Khelif's hand, indicating the winner of the fight. After the fight, Angela refused to shake hands and burst into tears in the center of the ring. Carini later said that she had never experienced such powerful blows:

“I am used to suffering, but I have never been hit like that, it is impossible to continue. I cannot say that it is illegal. I went into the ring to fight. But after the first minute I did not want to anymore. I began to feel a strong pain in my nose. The blow was too painful, and I said that I had enough.”

It was later revealed that the Italian had a broken nose. There was no official response from the organizers, but the Internet began spread the story Khelif and Karin with a call to save women's sports. On Saturday, August 3, Imana Khelif awaits the quarterfinal battle of the 2024 Olympic Games in the weight category up to 66 kg.
