Greece: Masks and rapid testing return


The coronavirus is once again dictating its terms: given the rapid growth of cases, masks and rapid tests are returning, but not everywhere yet.

The Metaxa Oncology Hospital continues to update and maintain strict Covid-19 protection measures, taking into account statistics growth of coronavirus casesobserved in recent days. According to the hospital's manager, Sarandos Efstathopoulos, the requirements will be in force for the next 15 days, with the main goal of protecting the hospital's cancer patients. The measures that must be strictly observed by staff and patients' companions for the next 15 days include:

  1. Use of masks in all indoor areas of the hospital and especially in patient rooms.
  2. Careful observance of hygiene rules (hand washing, etc.).
  3. Only two accompanying persons per patient with a card issued by the nursing service (not simultaneous presence).
  4. 48-hour rapid test for nurses.
  5. 48-hour rapid test for those who visit a clinic.
  6. Rapid testing of staff for symptoms.

In a statement, the Metaxa manager said: quotes CNN Greece:

“I request the cooperation of the relevant authorities for the immediate implementation of the above measures and the correct information of the staff, patients and their companions, by distributing the information sheet on the portal, in clinics and outpatient clinics, as well as through the Metaxas Hospital website. These measures will be implemented from Monday, July 15 until Monday, July 29, when the measures will be reviewed depending on the epidemiological data that emerges.”
