23-year-old man dies of heatstroke in Evia. His parents detained

On Sunday (14/7) at midday, a tragedy occurred in Evia: a 23-year-old man, who presumably suffered from heat stroke, breathed his last.

The parents reportedly left the boy in the car for several hours.a man of Albanian origin who was disabledlived with his family in Amarynthos (Evia), and his parents ran a catering shop in the area.

On the same day he was taken to hospital in Chalkida, but despite the efforts of doctors, they were unable to save his life, and the young man died on Sunday evening. His parents have been arrested on charges of neglecting their son and are expected to be brought before a prosecutor.

Symptoms of overheating and heat stroke

Heat stroke, symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting.
  • Redness of the skin.
  • Rapid and shallow breathing.
  • Rapid pulse. Your heart rate may increase significantly because heat stress puts extra strain on your heart.
  • Headache.

When to see a doctor

If you think a person has suffered heat stroke, seek medical help immediately. Call 166! Take immediate steps to cool the victim while you wait for emergency help:

  • Place the person in the shade or indoors.
  • Remove unnecessary clothing.
  • Cool the person down in any way possible: place him in a bath of cool (not ice cold) water or under a cool shower, gently hose him down with water, wet a sponge with cool water and run it over his body, place him in front of a fan and spray water in front of the fan to create a cool mist of water, place ice packs or cold, wet towels on his head, neck, armpits and groin.
