Greek Police: "Family day" banned – only gay parades are allowed


Greece now allows only gay events, as evidenced by the ban on “Family Day” scheduled for July 6, 2024.

By decision of the National Police, the holding of a meeting with the participation of people in support of the institution of the family, which was announced in the area of ​​Paleo Faliro, forbiddenbecause, as the advert stated, it was supposedly “is” serious danger to order and security in the area, along with other excuses such as “they didn't report it on time…” etc.

At the same time, in order to create the appearance that the police leadership allegedly “fairly” banned the anti-rally, which was simply announced in advance, they are banning only the pro-family rally. Of course, this does not have the opposite effect.

Thus, in accordance with the decision of the Director of the Athens Police, the holding of two open-air public meetings announced for tomorrow, Saturday, July 6, in Paleo Faliro, prohibited.

The first meeting was opposed by a group of supporters of the El Hero family, as well as members of some organizations with long names. “An initiative of anti-fascists from the southern suburbs and solidarity” And “People's Initiative Against Family Pride”.

In addition, the same decision prohibits any open-air public gatherings related to the above-mentioned gatherings from 12:00 6-7-2024 until 23:59 6-7-2024 in the urban network of the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, limited by the streets:

Furthermore, the organisers of the two above-mentioned meetings failed to notify the local police department of their intention to invite the general public to take part in a public meeting in the open air at a specific place and time, as they are obliged to do in accordance with the provisions of Article 3, paragraph. 1 and 2 of Law 4703/2020 and article 3 of Decree 73/2020, and therefore the procedure provided for by the current legislation on public assemblies in the open air was not followed.”
