The prosecutor and investigator have sentenced a 12-year-old boy accused of raping a 9-year-old girl in Thessaloniki to a correctional measure in the form of being held in the Papafio institution, without removing custody of the child from his parents.
The case was solved after a complaint was filed with the police by the child's grandfather, who said he was looking for his grandson and when he found him, he saw the teenager sexually abusing the child.
He was charged with rape and sexual activity with a minor, while the parents, who were charged with neglecting to supervise the minor, were released after explanations with judicial authorities.
In his apology, which was made in the presence of a psychologist, the teenager admitted that he had sexual intercourse with the child, but stated that he never sexually abused him, since, according to him, everything was done with his consent.
In their statements, the teenager's parents claimed they were at work and that his 19-year-old sister was looking after him. According to the teenager's lawyer, Ersi Fotopoulou, a forensic examination revealed sexual contact but no signs of violence.
It should be noted that both families are Roma and live in the village of Diavati in the west of Thessaloniki.
