Local farmers saw their hard work “go down the drain” in a matter of minutes. Iordanis Tsamtzis, deputy governor of Pella, told ERT about the extreme weather events that affected several areas of the prefecture.
“Unfortunately, the warning that we would have problems turned out to be true. Hail fell in the mountainous area of Edessa, in areas such as Karydia, in the wider area of Panagitsa, Ag. Athanasios. In the center of the prefecture and in other areas, catastrophic weather phenomena were also observed. At the moment, we have rain. This is exactly what we would not want, since it is the season for the harvest of fruits – cherries and peaches,” he said.
