EOT: summer culinary events in Pelion, Loutra Smokovou and Alexandroupolis

From 25th to 28th July, the National Park of Independence of Alexandroupolis will host the “Street Food Festival & Local Products” and tasting of local products.

In recent years, the culinary traditions and originality of each place have become one of the main factors when choosing a holiday for travelers. EOT, as part of its ongoing support for activities that highlight the culinary richness of our country, has taken under its auspices 4th Pelion Gastronomic Festival, 1st Gastronomy and Local Products Festival in Karditsa and the Street Food Festival & Local Products in Alexandroupoli.

The fourth Pelion Gastronomic Festival will take place from Friday 28 June to Sunday 30 June at the Karaisko Agrotourism Farm in Portaria. The main goal of the event is to highlight the culinary richness of the region and support local producers, as well as strengthen its reputation as an important culinary tourism destination. Those who visit Agroctima Karaiska during the three days of events will have the opportunity to meet local producers, services and products, attend presentations, demonstrations and master classes on local cuisine, as well as take part in them (including wine tasting ).

During these same days, in the municipality of Sofadon (Karditsa) there is a “I Festival of Gastronomy and Local Products”. The area is one of the most important tourist destinations in Thessaly, as located at an altitude of 450 meters in a small green valley overgrown with oaks and plane trees.

The festival will feature over 20 local exhibitors showcasing local traditional products from the region, giving visitors the opportunity to sample traditional flavors.

The program of events also includes “educational days” with speeches by university professors and eminent scientists, a competition of traditional dishes, a tribute to Cretan cuisine, children's cooking, cultural events, concerts of traditional and popular music.

In addition, from July 25 to 28, the National Park of Independence of Alexandroupolis will host the festivalstreet food and local produce festival. During the festival, thousands of visitors from Greece and abroad can sample flavours from around the world, accompanied by a cocktail or beer.

The region's catering establishments and local producers present culinary delights and methods of preparing them. Live music accompanies the events all days, lifting the spirits of everyone, young and old. Children will be entertained by clowns, jugglers, tightrope walkers on stilts, etc.
