Molotov cocktails were thrown into the house of the President of the Supreme Court, Joanna Klapa. Hit a policeman

Early in the morning of June 27, unknown persons threw Molotov cocktails at a policeman who was on duty near the house of the President of the Supreme Court, Joanna Klapa, in the Papagos district.

The attackers' target was a police car and a security post located at this location, police believe. As a result, a fire started in the car, and the patrol car ΕΛ.ΑΣ completely destroyed.

It is reported that the criminals drove past the alley where the house of the Chairman of the Supreme Court is located, stopped right next to the police car and through the open window threw Molotov cocktails at the car, after which the policeman was hit in the body and in the face. There was panic at the scene, the injured officer was trying to alert the fire department and the operations center, and there was an immediate danger of the fire spreading even to a residential building. The officer was taken with burns to the 401st hospital, where he remains.

The Greek Anti-Terrorism Service is investigating the attack. Greek police spokeswoman Constance Demoglidou, speaking on a television show on Thursday morning (27/06), spoke about the Molotov cocktail attack on the home of the President of the Supreme Court. She stated that it was an attack on a police officer, not a house. The criminals allegedly followed the uniformed policeman and attacked him as soon as he got into the police car.

“I believe that the target of the attack was a policeman and not the house of the head of the Supreme Court,” said Greek police spokeswoman Constance Demoglidou.adding: “The attack was clearly on a policeman (…). We cannot know whether these people simply wanted to kill the policeman, cause panic, injure him. The colleague was in the car and apparently these people attacked him while he was there. They stopped right next to him and basically threw a Molotov cocktail at him to burn the man alive inside the car. This is clearly a murderous attack on a police officer.”.

According to her, the officer “is in hospital with serious burns. We have been advised that the burns may be second degree, so the colleague was admitted to hospital this morning and remains there receiving treatment.” The spokeswoman said the officer managed to extinguish the fire on his own body and reported the matter to the police.

Ms Demoglidou said the investigation was ongoing. “either from the remains of bottles found in the official car, or from video recordings.”
