Weather forecast for today and the coming days: hot and windy, high risk of fires, rain in some places

For today, June 26, Greek meteorologists predict high temperatures and strong winds. The risk of fire is very high in Attica and southern Evia, Lesvos, Chios, Psara, Samos, Ikaria and Crete.

According to EMY, in the middle of the day it will be cloudy in places, localized rain will occur in mainland areas, and storms are expected in Epirus and Macedonia. Wind strength in the west, south, and southeast of the country will be from 3 to 5 points on the Beaufort scale. In the east the wind is north, from 5 to 6 points, in the Aegean Sea in some places up to 7 points on the Beaufort scale. The wind will weaken slightly in the evening.

The temperature will not change significantly: 33-35°C in the north of mainland Greece, 36-37°C in the rest of the territory, 34-36°C on the islands.

Attica. Clear weather, scattered clouds in the afternoon. Wind north-northeast from 4 to 5 points, in the east in some places 6 points and at times up to 7 points on the Beaufort scale. Temperature from 23 to 35-36°C. In the east and north, the maximum will be 2-3 degrees lower.

Thessaloniki. Clear, with some clouds in the afternoon. Local showers and possibly thunderstorms, mainly in the surrounding mountains. Wind variable, from 2 to 3 points on the Beaufort scale, southerly at midday and in the afternoon, 4 points on the Beaufort scale. Temperature from 23 to 33°C.

In the northern part of the Ionian Sea, Epirus and Macedonia, the weather will initially be clear, but from midday clouds will begin and localized rain or showers will occur. Macedonia experiences sporadic storms, sometimes severe. Bad weather in the evening hours will cease – first in northern Ionia and Epirus, and then in Macedonia.

The rest of the country will have mostly clear weather, with clouds appearing only in the midday and daytime hours in continental areas. North wind, from 3 to 5 points, at sea from 5 to 6 points, in the south-east of the Aegean Sea from 6 to 7 points on the Beaufort scale.

Temperatures will drop slightly, mainly in the north, and reach 33–34°C in the west and north, 35–36°C in the central part of the mainland, 31–33°C in the island country, with the exception of southern Crete – there it is local will reach 36°C.

The wind is northerly, from 3 to 4 points on the Beaufort scale, in the Ionian Sea locally up to 5 points, in the Aegean Sea up to 7 points, at times in the southeast up to 8 points on the Beaufort scale, with gradual weakening. Air temperatures will rise slightly, mainly in the west.
