Massacre at Korydallos prison: search for criminal and knife

The Homicide Squad is at Korydallos Prison taking over interrogations following a bloody brawl between inmates that claims the life of one man.

Authorities have not yet identified the perpetrator. They are looking for the knife used in the murder, and it is possible that searches will be carried out in other cells. The police already have recordings from cameras that recorded the fight.

The fight took place between Albanian prisoners in the 4th wing of the prison, where criminals convicted of serious crimes, mainly murders, are kept. According to initial reports, the incident was minor. One group told the other to go into the cells because it was hot there. The answer was: “Come in yourself, we won’t go there,” and a fight began.

The victim's difficult past

So far it is known that the deceased prisoner was convicted of two murders committed after fights in Korydallos. As it became known, he escaped in 2018 along with other people during a transfer and was arrested shortly after.

The scuffle also injured one person, who was taken by ambulance to Triasio with stab wounds to his back. The situation in the prison remained unstable for some time even before the start of the operation by special forces, riot police and prison officers, who at the first stage found out whether there were still wounded or dead.

According to the information, the deceased prisoner killed a businessman during a robbery in 2017 and an elderly woman, also during a robbery. At the same time, in 2018, he jumped ship in Piraeus. He was found two days later at a home in New Philadelphia, where he was arrested after a SWAT intervention.

By the time everyone started talking about how the fight happened, who was involved, and who dealt the fatal blow to the victim, authorities had already obtained surveillance footage to study the frame-by-frame video of the killing.

So far, neither the perpetrator of the murder nor the murder weapon, that is, the knife from which the victim died, has been identified. Of course employees EL.AS left all possibilities and scenarios that it was revenge, since it is possible that there were disagreements and previous disputes between the prisoners.
