The South Korean Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador (video)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea summoned Russian Ambassador Georgy Zinoviev because of the agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang.

Seoul considers the agreement a threat to its security and demands that Moscow stop military cooperation with Pyongyang, as violating a UN Security Council resolution by protesting their strategic partnership agreement. IN notedWhat military cooperation between the Russian Federation and the DPRK has a “negative impact on the regional situation and Russian-Korean relations.”

South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun emphasized that any interaction that directly or indirectly helps the North build up its military capabilities violates the UN Security Council resolution and poses a threat to the security of the South.

A representative of the Russian diplomatic mission said that attempts to “threaten or blackmail” Russia are unacceptable, and the Russian Federation’s agreement with North Korea “is not directed against specific third countries.”

This information appeared against the background rising tensions on the border between North and South Korea. Earlier, South Korean activists launched dozens of balloons carrying 300,000 propaganda leaflets for North Koreans. The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Kim Yo Jong, said that Pyongyang will give an “answer” to this. Last time, after a similar incident, North Koreans send garbage to their southern neighbors – also with balloons.

North Korean troops crossed the land border between the countries three times in a month., South Korean border guards fired warning shots. And in early June, South Korea resumed broadcasting over loudspeakers installed on the border. They broadcast news and various programs, the content of which contradicts what the DPRK state media say.

Let us recall that the other day Putin paid a state visit to Pyongyang, where he and Kim Jong-un signed a partnership agreement between the two countries, which contains a clause on “mutual assistance in the event of aggression.” After which the South Korean authorities announced that they would consider the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine.

Previously, our publication wrote about NATO's reaction on the pact between North Korea and Russia. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commented on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and North Korea. He noted that the DPRK provided the Russian Federation with a “huge amount of ammunition” and stated that Against the backdrop of unification of authoritarian regimes, democratic countries must demonstrate unity.
