Turkish Health Minister Fahretin Koca announced that 11 people were killed in a major fire that started in Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey and spread to neighboring Mardin prefecture.
78 people were injured, six of whom were hospitalized in serious condition.

The fire started yesterday, Thursday evening, from burning crop residue in a field in Chinar province, 30 kilometers south of the city of Diyarbakir, and quickly spread under the influence of strong winds to the neighboring province of Mazidayi in Mardin Prefecture.

All fires have been extinguished, and the relevant prosecutors are investigating the cause of the fire.
