Three beauty salons, which allegedly provided relaxation and health services, were “run” by a group of pimps in Thessaloniki, consisting of several members. Criminals “caught” women facing financial problems on the Internet and mercilessly exploited them.
The same group, apparently, was engaged in issuing loans on usurious terms. Prosecutors have evidence that members planned phony car accident scams to defraud insurance companies. The organization was reported to the independent anti-money laundering authority.
After many months of police investigations, culminating in the previous 24 hours, members of the Organized Crime and Human Trafficking Unit of the Thessaloniki Police Department arrested seven members of the group (all citizens aged between 26 and 54 years), including the alleged 43-year-old leader . Among those arrested were three women who had been sexually exploited.
According to EL.ASthe group has been active since the middle of last year, organizing a chain of massage parlors operating in Northern Greece – two in Thessaloniki (city center and Evosmos) and one in Serres.
The defendants, as members of a criminal organization, forced young women to perform sexual acts with clients, sometimes with violence, sometimes with the threat of violence.
