Greece's General Directorate of Defense Investments and Armaments has signed a contract for the construction of unmanned semi-permanent maritime surveillance platforms (USSPS) with Greek company ETME, a report said on Thursday.
The project, launched in 2021, is being developed under the European Defense Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) by a European consortium led by the innovative Greek company ETME and two major defense manufacturers EUNaval Group and Navantia.
USSPS, based on ETME's original patented floating maritime surveillance platform concept, aims to combine innovative solutions to integrate and coordinate C5ISTAR capabilities to create a network of maritime surveillance sensors based on semi-fixed unmanned platforms.
The consortium, in which ETME is the leader and Naval Group is the technical coordinator, brings together the largest European industrial players as well as research centers. Thanks to the fruitful collaboration, the project is moving towards prototype development, which should open up many opportunities for the Greek and Cypriot supply chain.
