Singapore Airlines is offering to pay $10,000 to those with minor injuries, while passengers with severe injuries can receive $25,000 in advance and further financial assistance.
Unbelted passengers were thrown into the air when sudden changes in vertical speed caused the plane to fall 54 meters in less than five seconds. In three minutes the plane descended 1830 meters. The investigation into the incident continues. Among the wounded are citizens of Great Britain, Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and the Philippines.
