With the beginning of the beach season, the number of tragic incidents that happen in Greece with unenviable regularity has increased.

Teenager suffers neck injury after falling into sea

16 year old boy fell into the sea from the pier on Katerinis beach, the teenager was taken by ambulance to Katerinis General Hospital. Doctors confirmed a neck injury and will transport him to Thessaloniki Hospital for further examination. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the 3rd Port Department of Katerinis of the General Authority of the Port of Thessaloniki.

Tourist dead in Sitia

A 73-year-old tourist from Finland felt unwell, fell and died. The incident occurred in Sitia, during a woman’s walk in the village of Agathia. The rescuers were called and tried to bring her back to life, but all their efforts were in vain.

Collision in the Thermaic Gulf

Two boats collided in the waters of Thermaikos, one of the passengers fell into the sea and was later brought safely to shore. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, one nautical mile from the port of Angelochori. As a result of the collision, the boat suffered material damage. According to a statement from the Ministry of Shipping and Coast Guard, the port administration of Nea Michanion was informed about the incident.

Fortunately, this time everything ended well – the passengers of both vessels stated that they did not need medical assistance, and no pollution of the marine environment was observed. The captain of the boat was arrested by employees of the 1st Port Department of Nea Michanion of the General Directorate of the Port of Thessaloniki.

Death in Rhodes

68 year old man in Rhodes pulled out of the sea unconscious at Alley Beach at noon Wednesday. He was taken by ambulance to Rhodes General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The island's central port authority, which is conducting a preliminary investigation, has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Albanian citizen found dead in Imathia

Body of a 35-year-old Albanian found in an irrigation canal in the Koulura area of ​​Imathia. The man went missing around 12:15 p.m., and after police were notified, a search began for him.
