The Lamia Court of Appeal returned Michalolyakos to prison with its verdict

Following a ruling by the Lamia Appeal Board, which accepted the prosecutor's proposal, it was decided that Golden Dawn party leader Nikos Michalolyakos will remain in prison.

Following sentencing, Mihaloliakos' detention will continue as normal, as it has been decided that “His articles in electronic media and their content make him suspect of committing new crimes.”

This development followed an appeal against the first sentence allowing Nikos Michaloliakos to leave prison, which was filed by Lamia Deputy Appellate Prosecutor Nikitas Theologitis. According to the prosecutor, the man sentenced to 13 years and 6 months for “leadership of a criminal organization”demonstrated “bad behavior based on his online publications in favor of Golden Dawn, which are directly related to his sentence.” According to the prosecutor, Michalolyakis dared to express doubts that his party was convicted legally.

The prosecutor believes that this defendant “is at risk of committing further crimes given the behavior he has demonstrated in a maximum security prison.”

2 May 2024 Secretary General “Golden Dawn” sentenced in 2018 to 13.5 years in prison, was released on parole by decision of the Lamia Magistrate's Court.
