Canada: A serial maniac who fed the bodies of murdered women to pigs was killed in prison (video)

Canada's most notorious maniac, 74-year-old Robert Pickton, died as a result of an attack by another prisoner.

His string of brutal murders dates back 20 years. He killed dozens of women on his own farm and fed their bodies to pigs.

The maniac, who was serving a life sentence in a Canadian prison, died as a result of injuries received from a cellmate. How reports The Washington Post, police have arrested the 51-year-old inmate who killed Pickton.

Robert Pickton's brutal crimes gained international publicity. He was jailed in 2007 for the murders of at least six women, although both law enforcement and the killer himself reported many more victims. In accordance with the law, this year the maniac could ask for parole.

The sister of one of Pickton's victims, Georgina Papin, Cynthia Cardinal, said news of the gunman's death brought her some relief:

“I won't say this will bring healing for all families, but for most… I can finally move on and heal and put this behind me.”

Serial killer Robert Pickton worked at a slaughterhouse in the Canadian province of British Columbia and killed women in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He selected sex workers from poor areas and invited them to “the party.” Then he brought them to a pig farm and brutally killed them, and fed their bodies to the pigs. Among the victims of the maniac were also representatives of indigenous peoples; their relatives accused the police of “not taking the case seriously” due to racism.

The criminal was exposed and arrested on February 22, 2002, after an informant told law enforcement that Pickton was storing illegal weapons on the farm. When officers arrived at the farm, they saw women's clothing and jewelry, an asthma inhaler and traces of blood belonging to the missing women. The pig farm turned out to be “the biggest crime scene in Canadian history.”

The operation to search for the remains of the dead lasted for two whole years: specialists examined tons of humus to find traces of the DNA of the dead, who turned out to be at least 33 people. The Department of Health even issued a warning to neighbors who bought meat from the monster: the pork he was selling could contain human remains.

Prosecutors initially charged Pickton with 26 murders, although in prison he boasted that he had actually killed 49 women. However, in 2010, the 20 murder charges were dropped, so Pickton served his sentence for 6 crimes. He never admitted guilt in court.

After the news of the maniac’s murder, the prison administration once again offered condolences to the families of the women whose lives were taken by Pickton.
