Greek students create innovative car app

A few months ago, an initiative by four students from the Faculty of Informatics and Telematics at the University of Athens Harokopeo to develop a mobile application designed to make the life of Greek drivers easier went viral on the Internet.

This is a universal mobile application “To IX mou”, which, once launched, will allow the driver to monitor the condition of his car via smartphone, receive alerts to prevent costly damage, and easily find stores that can help him with everything related to the car.

In April 2023, on the eve of the Junior Achievement competition in Greece #jastartupgr2023, where students presented the application, carandmotor.gr contacted the business idea leader and application development manager, Grigoris Lefkelis, who explained in detail how the app can become a driver's best friend.

Its necessity and usefulness were demonstrated by students with significant success at the competition. The application became the best project according to the audience, gaining an impressive 67% of 15,000 votes.

To IX mou will be available on both the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android) in early 2025, according to the head of the application's development. The program is currently in an advanced stage of implementation (as is the accompanying website, which will provide detailed information about everything that the application includes) as well as the programs available.

In particular, the driver will be able to connect his car to the application and receive various information about his car. Initially, the To IX mou app will be linked to MyAuto, an electronic vehicle file created by the Greek government that will allow drivers to see if road tax has been paid, when they need to present their vehicle to the KTEO, and so on.

In addition to the above, the application will be able to record the kilometers traveled by the car, thereby promptly informing the driver when he should change the oil or replace the tires.

In addition, by connecting a diagnostic tool to the OBD port located inside the car, it will be possible to check for possible faults, and if a problem is detected, the application will be able to direct the driver to the appropriate service company.
