69-year-old Greek woman dies after liposuction

The family of a 69-year-old resident of Karpathos is in grief and despair. Their mother and grandmother, without telling anyone, went to Athens to lose weight – to have plastic surgery to remove belly fat (liposuction). And this became the biggest mistake in her life.

The woman died about ten days later from complications, as the doctor punctured her intestines during the operation. “By the time we found out about it, it was already too late – we filed a lawsuit against the doctor and are waiting for a decision. She was in Athens, she had an operation, liposuction of fat, and then she returned to Karpathos and did not feel well, she was taken by helicopter to Rhodes, but we were too late to understand that the intestines were affected,” said the husband of the unfortunate woman.

“Her intestines were punctured and the doctor didn’t notice. And when we realized this, it was already too late. “She developed sepsis,” he added. – Apparently, having seen an advertisement somewhere on TV, my wife was “fired up” with the idea of ​​losing weight. Of course she didn't tell us anything. Neither me nor our daughter. We only found out about everything when she returned home to Karpathos,” he told us.

As it became known, the woman was not obese at all, weighing about 70 kilograms. However, since giving birth, she had accumulated some belly fat and began to feel complex. “She didn’t need such things. She was a good woman, healthy,” says the husband of the deceased woman.

The complaint of relatives who submitted documents and an application to the court stated that the woman complained of severe pain, but the doctor assured her that everything went well. The woman returned to Karpathos on March 17 almost unrecognizable. Severe swelling, bruising on the abdomen and difficulty breathing. The injured woman was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with intestinal perforation. She died from “multiple organ failure, septic shock after intestinal perforation.”
