Karpathos ranks top among Dutch tourists in a list published by travel website Greco.net after polling the traveling public on Greek destinations offering water sports, diving, themed tours and boat excursions.
The largest website in the Netherlands dedicated exclusively to holidays in Greece, notes that “Karpathos island is the best place for windsurfers. Diving to explore reefs and wrecks is a great addition to the daily life of sea diving enthusiasts. The services provided by the island's surf schools and diving centers make holidays in Karpathos even more enjoyable.” It is noted that earlier in the Dutch media There was an extensive presentation by the Municipality of Karpathos about the range of alternative types of tourism on the island.
Riding on the same positive wave is the Danish magazine Ude og Hjemme, which published a long, multi-page article entitled “Karpathos, Greece's Diamond in the Rough,” praising the beauty of the wildlife, local cuisine, traditions and numerous recreational opportunities on the largest island of the Dodecanese.
“A large number of tourists are expected from both traditional and new markets. It is gratifying that foreigners were very interested in the history of a diverse holiday in Karpathos, such as visiting villages, dozens of beaches, hiking, diving, rock climbing, sea tourism, as well as getting to know the unique traditions and gastronomy,” said Tasos Milios, Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Karpathos Municipality .
