Mandatory May Day holiday moved to Easter Tuesday

The date to which the May Day holidays will be moved was announced by the Greek Minister of Labor Domna Mikhailidou.

As she said while speaking on SKY radio, the obligatory May Day holiday is being moved to Easter Tuesday, that is, May 7. She said that the corresponding decision of the ministry will be published today.

“The government honors the anniversary of Labor Day and workers. Our policy confirms this. Over the past four years, more than 310 thousand Greek men and women have found employment and are no longer unemployed. The minimum wage has been increased by 20% and will increase further from the beginning of April. The growth in average wages was corresponding. This is just the beginning. Further improvement of labor relations and workers’ wages is a key direction of our policy,” said Ms. Mikhailidou.

Let us remind you that Easter falls on May 5 this year. One more day was added to the three-day weekend, i.e. extended until May 7 inclusive.
