Farmers on the strike on Syntagma: “We came here to walk and have fun”

One farmer denounces yesterday’s agricultural mobilization in Athens as “staged”, declaring, “we came here to party and have fun”, and confirming the Athens News account that it was a “pre-arranged” process.

The only beneficiaries of yesterday’s farmers’ rally in folk festival style became cafes and shops in the center of Athens, as there was an “outrageous” calm that gave the impression that they were happy with what the government was giving them. The losers were all the residents of Athens, who suffered for 24 hours from blocked roads in the center and on the outskirts of Athens.

Thousands of farmers, beekeepers and livestock farmers gathered at Syntagma for a useless agricultural rally, and today at about 11:00 they began their return journey.

A farmer from Atalante complained to SKAI that he had not slept all night. “Why should I sleep, man… What are you, a farmer? A farmer has no time… From the moment he wakes up until the night, the farmer is in the field. Only rain and snow stop us. My mother gave birth to us in the field.”

He then expressed his dissatisfaction with his colleagues. “I don’t want to say anything negative. What happened has never happened to farmers before, but it hurts me. Everyone here is ha ha ha. They abandoned their tractors and went for a walk. What’s a farmer, dude? We came here for the races. Why did we come here?”

PS After my video from Syntagma, which I signed “The circus has left. The clowns remain,” I was attacked with criticism and insults. However, I am 100% sure that Kyriakos Mitsotakis was able to come to an agreement with the leaders of the strike, who, by a strange coincidence, are all members of the New Democracy party, essentially turning the “entry of farmers into Athens” into a performance from which no one cared no benefit. Even the Greek opposition parties understood this, whose leaders accepted participation in the rally on February 20.
