Minimum wage: increase by 40-50 euros. The goal is 950 euros by 2027

The minimum wage increase will be at least 40–50 euros, which is planned to be announced in March. If nothing changes, the decision will come into force on April 1, setting the minimum wage limits at 820–830 euros per month.

This increase limit is almost “mandatory” for the government to “fulfill” its election pledge to set the minimum wage at €950 in 2027. To achieve this goal, annual increases should average around 42.5 euros, which means that the new salary should not be lower than 822.5 euros.

If the government decides to “round up” the increase in question, it is quite possible that the salary will be 830 euros. The threshold for the percentage increase was determined (and announced) by the Minister of Labor, Ms. Domna Mikhailidou, who noted that “it starts at 3.5%,” that is, at the 2023 inflation rate.

Since the new wage will eventually range between €820 and €830, there will remain between €120 and €130 for the next three increases until 2027 to reach the minimum wage target of €950.

Thus, the establishment of a new minimum wage will be announced on March 22. The decision will come into force on April 1.
