Starting a business: the process will be simplified from March 1

By the end of the year, the use of model statutes for all legal forms engaged in commercial activities will be completed, with the aim of simplifying and harmonizing the process of company formation, which will begin on March 1, 2024.

This is provided for in a decision signed by Development Minister Kostas Skrekas, which was published today on the Diavgeia website and which details the standards of the charter.

These recommendation templates apply to 17 types of legal entities and will be gradually available through a single reference service (Υπηρεσίας μιας Στάσης – ΥΜΣ) and an electronic reference service (e-ΥΜΣ).

According to the decision:

• From 1 March 2024, standard articles of association with additional content will be available for public limited liability company, limited liability company, private limited liability company, limited partnership and general partnership.
• From 1 May 2024, standard and supplementary articles of association will be available for civil partnerships, joint ventures and limited partnerships.
• From 1 July 2024, standard and supplementary regulations will be available for the Civil Partnership, Renewable Energy Community and the Civil Energy Community.
• From October 1, 2024, standard charters and charters with additional content will be available for limited liability companies “social cooperative”social cooperative enterprises and workers’ cooperative enterprises.
• From 1 December 2024, standard articles of association and articles with additional content will be available for a European company, a European co-operative society and a European economic interest group.
