Meteo: eight areas where wind speed exceeded 100 km/h


According to the Meteo.gr network of meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens, gale force winds with speeds exceeding 100 km per hour prevailed on the Aegean islands on Tuesday morning.

On the morning of January 16, 2024, wind gusts exceeded 100 km/h on the islands of Naxos, Paximada Karystos and Tinos. The almost hurricane-force south wind blowing in the Aegean Sea gradually weakened during the day, changing its direction to the west. While in the northern part of the Aegean the north wind is expected to strengthen.

According to weather forecasters, it is expected: cold in the north, rain in the south and rising temperatures on the mainland. A new wave of cold will arrive on Saturday, January 20th.
