Metropolitan Kalavryta called on believers to fight against the legalization of same-sex marriage

Metropolitan Jerome of Kalavryta of the Greek Orthodox Church called on the faithful of Greece to fight against the government’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage.

“Someone called Greece a “neutral religious state,” but he is very mistaken, because many millions of Greeks are all these days proving what Greece means and who Jesus Christ is in Greece. No matter how much they want to remove Christ from the Greek state, they will not succeed, because He is rooted in Greece and in our hearts,” Metropolitan Jerome emphasized. He is confident that “the victory of our Lord will come soon, and let those who are trying to belittle our faith by distorting the teaching of the Christian family understand this.”

The Bishop called on local authorities to make it clear to all those politicians who make decisions that their intention to legalize same-sex marriage “is a time bomb on the foundation of the Greek family and society, and that we may not see the results now, but soon they will be noticeable.” “The result of sin, as the Bible says, is death… If they pass a law in favor of adoption of children by same-sex couples, it will be a disaster for our society,” the bishop said. “May God not allow this to happen. We have a great weapon – prayer. So let’s pray to God to enlighten them so that they do not destroy our Greece,” said Metropolitan Jerome.

The Bishop is confident: “If we want the new year to be a year of blessing, we must fight against this. A Greek knows how to fight for the morality of his homeland, for Jesus Christ and our Orthodox faith.” In conclusion, the Metropolitan apologized to those gathered, noting: “I am not in the habit of saying this, but when they come and harm our children, for whom we are fighting to create a better society, then we will respond with the loudest voice of Christ!”

Marinakis: Same-sex marriage law will be passed

On January 2, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, despite the public reaction, made statementwhich states that “The law on the “marriage” of homosexual couples will be adopted – there is no rollback!
