Tempi: OSE covers its tracks

CEO’s Statement O.S.E.made by him while giving evidence to the parliament’s production and trade committee about the crime in Tempi, raises serious questions, the newspaper writes documentonews.

12 December European prosecutors announced to initiate a criminal case against 23 suspects in crimes related to the railway systems of the SCB, the charges relate to contract 717 and its non-fulfillment. We are talking about a sensational contract for the restoration of the signaling and control system on the Athens-Thessaloniki-Promachonas railway section. It should be noted that the responsibility for the failure of the Greek railway project, which led to the Tempi crime, lies entirely with the Mitsotakis government.

According to the publication, Panagiotis Terezakis reported with unprecedented calm that the materials of the conversations were erased from the recorder 15 days after the tragedysince this is provided by the Office of Personal Data Protection, and during this time the court officials investigating the case did not request these materials.

According to his testimony, in order to shift the blame, the prosecutor and the investigating judge requested these records a month and a half later. In fact, he said, in order to exhaust all possibilities of “extracting” these conversations from the tapes, even after they were deleted, the material was sent to NSI to determine whether it could be processed to extract the conversations.

Just a few days earlier and despite the fact that the European Public Prosecutor’s investigation had revealed “criminal acts” and criminal liability for non-fulfillment of contract 717, the government majority in parliament rejected the proposals of PASOK and SYRIZA to create a preliminary investigative committee in the case of the contract, which would examine the responsibility of the ministers (Kostas Karamanlis, Christos Spyrtzis, Kostis Hatzidakis, Michalis Chrysochoidis) in its non-fulfillment.

Let us remember that the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Tempi case did not even draw up lists of witnesses, which is an example of how sketchy it is in its work. However, the European Prosecutor’s Office announced criminal charges against 23 people, including 18 civil servants. Apparently, some conclusions are more likely to be reached in the European Court than in Greece. After all, in fact, the main defendants in the case should be loyal associates of the current prime minister…
