Where are the radars emptying the pockets of Greek drivers?

Greek drivers are particularly emotional behind the wheel, which is reflected in the numbers. Fines for “nervousness” amount to hundreds of euros every day. But where are the cameras that record violations located?

Greek drivers love speed, even if their car does not have the appropriate condition (tires, age of use, make, etc.). For 15 days of the month, out of 24 thousand issued notices of fines, almost 70% are related to speeding. The champion, of course, is Attica, Thessaloniki is in second place, and Thessaly is in third place.

Cameras that record traffic violations are installed in 15 places in Attiki Odos. Some of them are visible, and some are invisible, because they are “hidden” behind digital information signs. According to newsauto, all cameras on Attiki Odos are operational and in very good condition. All of them are under the jurisdiction of the Traffic Department.

The reason they don’t work 24 hours a day is purely managerial. With the outdated system of serving a summons to the offender in place for years, even if there were 1,000 police officers working in the offices, the volume of violations and fines could not be covered. For the same reason, from time to time there are thoughts of transferring traffic management (fixing fines) to private companies, as is done in other countries EU. But this is still a long way off.
