“Apology” by N. Dendias after the ProNews report: “American C-130s carry out humanitarian missions…”

The dozens of US transport planes that land and take off from 112PM at Elefsina almost daily are on “humanitarian” missions, according to National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias. However, according to ProNews, American aircraft supply ammunition to the Israeli army.

In principle, he accepted the content of the publication and the acceptance of American transport aircraft at the 112 IAP airfield in Elefsina.

He subsequently stated:

“Permission to use Greek military airfields, in addition to the terms of the defense agreement with the United States, was granted for transport aircraft, as well as support helicopters and personnel. These funds will be used for humanitarian purposes, that is, for the evacuation and transportation of US citizens or Greeks, if necessary.”

However, as the publication learned ProNewsthe dozens of United States Air Force (USAF) C-130s that land at Elefsina every day carry not civilians and humanitarian supplies, but weapons and ammunition for the Israeli and US armies.

Particularly at a time when the war between Israel and Hamas continues and the situation in the Middle East is unstable, the United States asked Greece to host, and Athens gave permission for, the installation of dozens of American aircraft at the airfield of the 112th Combat Wing.

In just one day, eight different American C-130 aircraft carrying American cargo landed at the airfield. They, according to Dendias, carry out “humanitarian” missions and perhaps that is why Greece did not ask for anything in return for the concession of the airbase, which is outside the framework of the defense agreement with the United States, since this is done, of course, for “humanitarian” reasons.

USA should be “champion” on humanitarian missions, because so many of them are carried out from 112 IAP. But in any case, the fact that no quid pro quo was requested applies not so much to N. Dendias as to the central administration of the Greek Prime Minister, which no doubt knows what kind of cargo is being transported on American military transport aircraft following to Israel…

And although there are serious doubts that the Greek authorities can somehow influence American transportation, our country always has the opportunity to demand some additional preferences or at least spare parts for the Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft, which are already some years chained to the ground at this airfield due to lack of spare parts.

“Our country does not participate in military operations, and it was not asked to do so. Permission to use Greek military airports, which goes beyond the terms of the defense agreement with the United States, was given for transport aircraft, as well as for support helicopters and personnel,” – Nikos Dendias said in an interview with the Parapolitika newspaper.
