Passers-by noticed bear cubs climbing into the vineyards in search of food.
Most likely they were orphans left without a mother. According to epiruspost.gr, in recent days they have been increasingly appearing in the surrounding area in search of food.
On Friday afternoon, October 6, a local resident met them a few tens of meters near the Egnatia Odos (Metsovo) highway. Much to our surprise, the presence of humans did not disturb the wild animals. They continued to forage and dig through the rubble of cut grapevines. It is known that grapes and fruits are their favorite delicacies. In days gone by they left traces in other places, farmlands.
As residents note, most likely, their mother was killed, as reported by the same local media. Because bear cubs are seen together, unaccompanied by adults. Local activists are appealing to all responsible persons to ensure the safety of the two babies, and a strong appeal to hunters not to harm the young animals when they are in the area.
