According to a recent report presented by US News & World Report, Greece is among the top 10 options for post-retirement living.
The study analyzed a total of 87 countries in terms of the following key characteristics: social structures, healthcare system, cost of living, climate, friendliness and safety, tax environment and entrepreneurship. Switzerland was at the top of the list because, despite its comparative disadvantage in terms of cost of living (a little expensive), it has a stable economy and security. Portugal and Australia took second and third place respectively, while New Zealand and Spain rounded out the top five.
Greece is in the top tenin ninth place, overtaking most European and Scandinavian countries, even much stronger economies such as Japan and the USA. Greece’s success is even more valuable after the protracted economic downturn from which it is recovering, while the scope for further improvement, coupled with an extensive program of reform and modernization, is enormous. Top ten:
Switzerland
Portugal
Australia
New Zealand
Spain
Canada
Sweden
Italy
Hellas
Denmark.
