Smoky Attica – interactive map

The suffocating atmosphere in Attica and the smoke from the fires covering the sky – this was the morning of August 23rd.

Experts recommend maximum caution, especially for people with health problems. Smoke from a fire that broke out yesterday in Fili fire covers the sky in many parts of Attica, writes newsbeast.gr. The National Observatory of Athens warns and recommends:

“As predicted by the operational department ΥΠΑΤΙΑ του Ινστιτούτου ΙΕΠΒΑ του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών, the air quality in the entire basin of At tics gradually worsens with increasing concentrations of particulate matter PM2.5, especially in the Western districts of Athens and Piraeus.In particularly polluted areas, vulnerable groups of the population (the elderly people, small children, people with cardio-respiratory diseases) are advised to stay in rooms with closed windows.
