Turkey has offered fire planes to Greece to help fight forest fires in the country. The neighboring state will provide Greece with two firefighting amphibious aircraft and a firefighting helicopter.
“At the direction of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, two fire planes and one fire helicopter … and crews will be sent to Greece,” the Turkish Communications Authority tweeted on Friday.
“Amphibious aircraft with efficient maneuverability and a firefighting helicopter, built on the basis of local and national resources, will be used in Greece to deal with the consequences of forest fires“, – added to the management.
Earlier, Cyprus and Croatia announced that they would send fire planes to Greece through the civil defense mechanism. EU, joining aircraft from Italy and France. Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Malta and Bulgaria have also sent ground crews.

On Friday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis took to Twitter to thank the countries that helped put out the fires. “We are grateful to all the countries that sent help to fight the forest fires in Greece. Your contribution was invaluable,” he said.
In the winter of 2023, Greece sent to Turkey rescuers to help the neighboring people after a catastrophic earthquake, which led to a thaw in relations between countries.
The tragic event that brought Greek rescuers to Turkey and forced Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias hug Mevlut Cavusoglu after years of tension in bilateral relations.
