As part of measures to protect drivers and passengers from heat waves, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has released an informative video with useful road safety tips.
According to the video, the following are important to ensure road safety during heat waves:
- We move at a slower speed and over longer distances.
- We are slowly accelerating and decelerating.
- Use air conditioning to keep the driver comfortable.
- We never ride without clothes and shoes on a car and especially on a motorcycle.
- If an insect gets into the car, we first stop safely and then deal with it.
- We take care to check the brake system, engine cooling and air conditioning.
- Check tire pressure before use.
Cristina Aleksopoulou, Deputy Minister in charge of the transport sector, said: “With very high temperatures expected on some days of the summer, similar to those already brought by the Cleon heat wave, we urge our fellow citizens to follow the advice of road safety experts, which we have included in short video posted by us. Very hot days require special attention from both the driver and passengers, and from the correct operation of vehicles. So let’s follow these simple and useful recommendations for the sake of all of us.“.
