On the day of the rebellion Prigozhin Kyiv was asked "don’t rock the boat"

According to CNN, the Western allies asked Ukraine to refrain from strikes on the Russian Federation on the day of the Wagner rebellion. Channel sources say:

“The fear was that Ukraine and the West would be seen as helping Prigozhin and threatening Russian sovereignty. The message was not to rock the boat here.”

It was a message at the level of ambassadors, foreign ministers and their deputies, says a Western official:

“The allies warned the Ukrainians not to provoke the situation. To use the opportunities on the territory of Ukraine, but not to be drawn into internal affairs and not to strike offensive military targets inside Russia.”

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the West had nothing to do with Prigozhin’s rebellion, and that this was Russia’s internal affair. Today, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said the United States intends to take the necessary steps to limit the ability of Wagner, a private military company, to “spread chaos and violence.” He noted that the PMC is included in the register of transnational criminal organizations and is under the sanctions of the United States. Washington acknowledges that the Wagner Group still has a presence in Africa, Kirby said.

Washington made it clear to its allies that it has nothing to do with Prigozhin’s rebellion and considers it an internal affair of Russia, the SNB coordinator added. According to him, a similar message was sent to Moscow through the appropriate diplomatic channels:

“We had good direct contact with the Russian side during the weekend of June 24 and 25.”

American Institute for the Study of War ISW in its next review writes that the attempts of the founder of the private military company Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin of his loyalty failed. The creator of the PMC tried to play down the significance of his rebellion, probably hoping to defend himself from accusations of a coup d’état, analysts say. But Putin in a televised address to the nation on June 26 characterized the PMC armed rebellion as an attempt at blackmail and condemned its organizers as traitors, ISW experts say.

The Kremlin is making it clear that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who has been repeatedly criticized by Prigozhin, will retain his position for the time being, and Putin “will not succumb to blackmail attempts” by the founder of the PMC, analysts emphasize. The future of the “Wagner Group” is unclear, but, most likely, Prigogine will not be included in it, and it will no longer will not existas a separate or unitary formation, experts summarize.
