Fashion designer Vyacheslav Zaitsev dies

Russian fashion designer Vyacheslav Zaitsev died at the age of 85 on Sunday, April 30.

His death was reported by the local Telegram channel MASH: “According to our information, in the afternoon he was taken to the Shchelkovo hospital with bleeding in the stomach. His dacha is located in the same area.” After a CT scan, Vyacheslav Zaitsev was placed in intensive care, where he died at 18:00. In recent years, he lived with Parkinson’s disease.

The death of the fashion designer was reported by REN TV, Izvestia, “Kommersant”and confirmed by the Russian Academy of Arts.

For a long time, Zaitsev worked on creating costumes for figure skating champions and pop stars. In 1988, he performed costumes for the soloists of one of the Broadway theaters. As a costume designer, he participated in staging films at the Mosfilm and Maxim Gorky studios: “The Magician”, “Hold on to the Clouds”, “Hello, Circus”, “Nameless Star”.

Vyacheslav Zaitsev – People’s Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. Shows of his collections were held in Paris and New York, Munich, Florence and Tokyo. The fashion designer was engaged in scenography and theatrical costume. During his career, he performed stage costumes for more than two dozen Moscow theaters, including the Satire Theatre, the Moscow Art Theater, the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theatre, the Mossovet Theater and Sovremennik.

Since 2016, the famous fashion designer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, at the same time, joint problems began. He was partially paralyzed and could not move without assistance.
