A woman greets K. Mitsotakis through the bars of her window

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” say the Chinese, and a photo of Prime Minister Mitsotakis shaking hands with a woman in Corfu through the bars on her window is a vivid illustration of the problems with law enforcement and the huge security gaps that Greeks are feeling.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as part of his election tour, visited the island of Corfu, trying to convince the people that they should re-elect him as prime minister. He even posted pictures on social media to prove how much people love him. The very people who every day have to deal with an unprecedented rampant crime.

The Prime Minister wrote in one of his messages about his visit to Corfu: “Your support fills us with strength and optimism for the struggle we are waging – and winning – for our country.” However, the bars on the windows show that citizens do not feel safe in their homes. Rather, they show that they are afraid that at any moment they can be robbed or killed.

Please note that this photo was taken on the island of Corfu, which is far from the first places in the crime list of Greece. The people of Athens face much worse situations.

What amazes us is that the photo was published by the Prime Minister himself. Probably his PR people are also out of place …

PS Photo from twitter premiere have already been removed. They seem to have figured it out…
