Banners on the Acropolis reading “Our Lives Matter” were put up by members of the cultural community this morning in protest and solidarity with the victims of the Tempi train derailment.
The promotion is initiative artistic guides schools (καλλιτεχνικών σχολών, KΘBE) who have been closed (on strike) since early February 2023 as they express their opposition to Presidential Decree No. 85 (Προεδρικό Διάταγμα 85), which they say denigrates their studies.
It should be noted that students of art schools took to the streets with diverse actions against the society, shocked tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 57 people.
The KΘBE protest, which lasted 34 days, was a movement in which students protested against the presidential decree on artists and their appointment to the public sector, as well as the “degradation of culture”. Recently, both the board of directors and the artistic director of the National Theater (Καλλιτεχνικό Διευθυντή του Εθνικού Θεάτρου) suggested that the bodies coordinating the strike consider other forms of action that would not hinder the curriculum.
