Anagnostopoulos’ family asks for custody of their granddaughter from Caroline’s parents

The court considered the statements of Susan Crouch, Caroline’s mother, and the parents of Babis Anagnostopoulos, who oppose the removal of their granddaughter from Greece.

In the next few days, the trial court will rule on appeals filed by the families of Babis Anagnostopoulos and Caroline Crouch, who was killed by the pilot, regarding the residence of the child, who now lives in the Philippines with his mother Caroline’s family.

The court heard behind closed doors statements by Susan Crouch, Caroline’s mother, and the parents of Babis Anagnostopoulos, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a 20-year-old girl, who oppose their granddaughter’s relocation outside of Greece. The discussion interviewed the maternal grandparents’ psychiatrist, who also testified at the Glyka Nera crime trial, and the man’s paternal grandparents’ teacher.

An appeal from Caroline’s parents, who were awarded guardianship over their granddaughter Lydia, concerns a change in the order and hours of communication with the paternal grandparents in connection with the relocation of the child. The pilot’s parents are asked to take away guardianship over the child with Caroline’s parents and hand it over to them, since, according to them, the conditions of communication were violated.

According to family lawyer Caroline Crouch, “the court is asked to decide whether the child will continue to live in a comfortable and warm environment in the family of Caroline, with her cousins, or return to their homeland.”

In turn, the lawyer of the parents of Babis Anagnostopoulos said that all the efforts of his clients are aimed at the benefit of their granddaughter. “The court will decide whether the child should be raised in Greece with all his grandparents or in an unknown setting in the Philippines. There is a violation of the court order. The grandparents learned about it on TV. The decision is violated in the communication aspect. The main goal is to return the child to Greece,” he said.

As previously reported by Athens News, the killer of his wife, Babis Anagnostopoulos, decided to transfer his property to his daughter Lydia. However, Caroline’s friend claims the “grand gesture” is just part of a larger plan by the pilot to get him out of jail. According to her, the killer wants to show extenuating circumstances and after a few years to ask to release him ahead of schedule.

Babis Anagostopoulos, convicted of the murder of his 20-year-old wife Caroline in Glyka Nera in May 2021, decided to transfer all his assets to his daughter, who currently lives with her grandparents in Alonissos. In particular, a man sentenced to life imprisonment for brutal murder ordered that his personal property be handed over to the child.
