In March 2021, Mariam Sharmanashvili (now 34 years old) posted a photo on Instagram at a piano. She was answered by 55-year-old Carlo Ponti Jr., an Italian conductor and the eldest son of actress Sophia Loren.
He wrote Bellissima, but the girl did not know a word of Italian and answered through Google translator – Grazie mille. They began to correspond, then meet.
On September 20, 2024, Sophia Loren turned 90 years old. The day before, the son proposed to Mariam, who agreed. Sharmanashvili has an eight-year-old son; this is Ponti Jr.’s second marriage. He conducts an orchestra in the USA, his fiancee continues to live in Georgia. This is where the wedding will take place.
“We planned our life together so that his travels would not affect our relationship and love,” says Mariam. She met her future mother-in-law in November 2022 in Geneva, they get along great.
