According to the latest data from the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred in eastern Turkey.
The epicenter of the earthquake is located 43 kilometers east of the city of Malatya. The depth of the source is estimated at nine kilometers. According to the initial announcement, the earthquake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale. Tremors were felt in neighboring areas, especially in Elazig and Diyarbakir.
Elazig Prefect Numan Hatipoglu said that so far no requests for help from citizens have been recorded. The mayor of Malatya, Sami Er, said the same thing.
According to Haber, the earthquake occurred in the Kale region of Malatya. Now AFAD special teams are rushing there to detect damage or injuries.

The tremors were felt by residents not only of Turkey, but also of Syria, Georgia and Armenia.
