10,000 euros for home renovation: conditions for receiving a subsidy


The Greek government is paying particular attention to solving the housing crisis.

It has launched a new home renovation initiative as part of the government's Social Housing for the Most Vulnerable programme, offering owners a subsidy of €10,055. Homes renovated under this program will be rented to households experiencing housing problems. Property ownerslocated within the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Athens may apply application for participation.
The program aims to subsidize the renovation of seventy houses. Owners will receive up to €10,055 to renovate the apartment, which they will rent out for a period of at least four years.

Beneficiaries include the owners/occupiers of properties intended for residential purposes. To qualify, they must meet the following conditions:

  • Own all or a share of real estate (equal to or greater than fifty percent).
  • The property must have an area of ​​thirty-five to one hundred and twenty square meters and be located in a residential area.
  • The property must be legally located and not subject to demolition.
  • The property must not be declared as a first residence, must not be declared as a rental property and must not be declared as vacant on Form E2 attached to the last six months' tax return.

To join the program, citizens who intend to live in renovated apartments must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of the Housing and Work for the Homeless program or housing benefit CUSTODY.
  • Not having your own first home/dwelling.
  • Reside within the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Athens or be citizens of the municipality.

Applications will be scored based on both income and social status (eg, homeless).
