Johnson learned of accusations of disrupting peace talks at a Greek restaurant (video)

The former British Prime Minister called “nonsense” the accusations against him regarding the breakdown of peace negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in 2022.

The comment is contained in his memoir “Unleashed”, published on October 10. According to the former British prime minister, he was surprised by the accusations of disruption of the agreements. He learned about the existence of such a point of view being retired. At that time he was in Greece and sat in one of the restaurants.

According to Johnson, there was a family from Germany at the next table, and one of the women looked at him “unkindly.” When the Germans were leaving the restaurant, she approached him and handed him a note asking quotes edition “Country”:

“Mr Johnson, how can you live in peace when hundreds of thousands of people are dying after you went to Kyiv and stopped the peace agreement in April 2022?”

Only after this did Johnson find out that such an assessment is widespread not only in Germany, but also in other countries. The former prime minister writes in his memoirs:

“This is complete nonsense. Ukrainians were never going to agree to Putin's terms – nothing like that. I don’t think Ukrainian leader Zelensky, or anyone else, could negotiate a peace deal and then stay in [президентском] office for more than five minutes.”

Let's briefly recap the 2022 peace talks:

It is worth recalling that the primary source of information that it was Johnson who disrupted the negotiations was David Arakhamia. In the fall of 2023, he said that after the next round of negotiations in Istanbul in the spring of 2022, the then British Prime Minister flew to Kyiv and said: “We will not sign anything with them, let’s just fight.”

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that England, France and Germany were behind the failure of the Istanbul agreements.

In February 2024, in an interview with Russian VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, the Russian president said that if Kyiv had not listened to the advice of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the spring of 2022, the war would have stopped even then.

“He (David Arakhamia) said that if we had fully implemented the agreements that arose in Istanbul, the war would have stopped a year and a half ago.”

Putin also believes that Johnson made his trip to Kyiv in agreement with Washington:

“Why did the West take such a position? I mean the Anglo-Saxon world, because Mr. Johnson could not come on his own, on his own initiative, without consultation with Washington. He stated the position that it was necessary to fight with Russia to the bitter end and inflict Russia suffered a strategic defeat. Apparently, they were counting on this result.”
