200 applications were submitted to the Ukrainian Legion in Poland in 4 days (video)

Within a few days, 200 Ukrainian volunteers living in Poland applied to join the “Ukrainian Legion,” the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin reported on October 4.

Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin Oleg Kuts says, quotes Polish radio:

“We believe that since recruitment began on October 1, this is not at all small. The center team is working with applications. They contact those who applied, make an appointment and schedule a time to come for an interview. Part of the team is the medical commission. We provide uniforms and equipment. Our Polish partners provide weapons, provide training, and then the brigade or battalion is sent to Ukraine. After a while they return here to rest.”

The Ukrainian consul recalled that recruitment to the Ukrainian Legion takes place in Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin. The recruiting center is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00. Official page Ukrainian Legion https://legion.army.go/v.ua. The recruiting center is located in Poland at the address: Lublin, Spokojna street, 2 (ul. Spokojna, 2, 20-074 Lublin, Polska).

Earlier in July, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said at the NATO summit in Washington that Warsaw begins to prepare the first Ukrainian brigade, which consists of volunteers, since there are up to a million Ukrainians of both sexes in Poland:

“Several thousand of them have already registered for this call. And what's interesting is that many of them really want to serve and rotate their compatriots.”

According to the politician, the only obstacle is the statement of the recruits to the Polish officers that they will not go into battle without proper training and equipment. Therefore, as Sikorski noted, the Polish army will do this:

“Our army is constantly in contact with them, and has already committed to train and equip them, and then they will be sent to Ukraine as a unit with the right to return after rotation. If every European country did this, Ukraine would have several brigades.”

Ukrainian Defense Minister Umerov then told some details: the legion will be based and formed in Poland, but Ukrainians from other European countries will be able to join it. They, like others, will be offered a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the training and arming of recruits will be financed by international partners.

A very important aspect: after rotation, Ukrainians will be able to return to Polanddespite the closed borders, and this is a significant incentive for many men to join the new Ukrainian Legion in Poland.
