Two-year-old beaver Nibi is on trial in Massachusetts. She was found in early childhood on the street of the town of Sturbridge, rescued and rescued by employees of the environmental organization Newhouse Wildlife Rescue.
For two years the animal grew up at the naturalists’ station in a large enclosure with a pond and constant food. Tens of thousands of people follow Nibi on social networks.
But now the authorities want to release her. Animal rights activists are against it, since the beaver is too accustomed to people and will not survive in the wild. According to them, Nibi has no interest in other beavers and does not want to become “wild.” They offer to give her to school so that children can play with her. But the authorities are adamant and insist on their own. Animal rights activists filed a lawsuit against them. Already, 25,000 Nibi fans have signed an online petition to allow her to remain with the people. The governor of Massachusetts, Democrat Maura Healey, intervened in the matter and promised support for the animal.
