On Monday 7 October, a large fire broke out in an abandoned building in Piraeus, on Kekropos and Kasimatis streets behind the ΗΣΑΠ station.
The fire spread quickly, and from the first moment there was a danger that it could spread to neighboring buildings.
The fire produced thick black smoke, prompting the 112 service to send a message to residents asking them to close their doors and windows.
The atmosphere was so suffocating that the 112 alarm sounded five times.
