Where is the cheapest rental space?

Recently, rental housing prices have been rising rapidly, putting significant pressure on household budgets.

According to analysts, rental prices in Greece will continue to increase in the near future, although not as sharply as in other countries. According to the Spitogatos SPI Price Index, in the third quarter of 2024, the largest increases in the average asking price for rent were observed in the following areas:

• Neo Faliro – 31.4%;
• Agios Stefanos – 24.9%;
• Piraiki – Hatzikiriakeyo – 23.3%;
• Vari – Varkiza – 23.0%;
• Marathonas – 22.2%.

At the same time, in some areas rental prices remain affordable. For example, in Perama the average asking price is 6.7 euros per square meter, making this area one of the most affordable rental properties in Attica.

At the same time, according to Eurostat, despite high rental prices in our countrythey are still far from the record levels of 2010. If we compare the second quarter of 2024 with 2010, then in 26 countries EU rental price has increased. The largest increases were recorded in Estonia (203%), Lithuania (178%), Ireland (106%) and Hungary (104%). The only decrease in rental prices was recorded in Greece (18%).
