Surprisingly, it seems as if just recently 50-year-old women were already considered “old ladies” and, for example, in Russia in the 90s they retired, with all the ensuing consequences.

The woman is free – she has raised children (and maybe she doesn’t have grandchildren yet), which leaves a lot of time for self-care, is attractive (if she takes care of herself and her health) and is usually sexually active. Today's 50-year-old women (even not celebrities) look younger and more attractive for several reasons:
